Stamp 1G Ireland: Document Checklist After Graduation

If you have completed your degree in Ireland and want to stay back to look for work, you may be eligible to apply for Stamp 1G under the Third Level Graduate Programme.

This permission is for eligible non-EEA graduates who have successfully completed an Irish qualification and want to remain in Ireland after their studies.

Who can apply for Stamp 1G

• You currently hold valid Stamp 2 permission.
• You have successfully completed an eligible degree in Ireland.
• Your final results have been officially published.
• Your qualification is from a recognised Irish institution.

In most cases, Level 8 graduates can receive up to 12 months, while eligible Level 9 graduates may receive up to 24 months in total, subject to the relevant conditions.

Stamp 1G document checklist

• Valid passport.
• Copy of the passport biometric page.
• Current IRP card showing your valid Stamp 2 permission, front and back.
• Official university letter confirming successful completion of your course.
• Degree certificate or parchment, if available.
• Final academic transcript, if available.
• Private medical insurance valid in Ireland.

Proof of course completion

One of the most important documents is proof that you have successfully completed your course.

• Official completion letter from your university.
• Award letter from your university.
• Degree certificate or parchment.
• Final academic transcript.
• Graduate visa or Stamp 1G support letter, if your university issues one.

If your graduation ceremony has not happened yet, ask your university for an official completion letter or Stamp 1G support letter.

Medical insurance requirement

• Be valid for your intended stay.
• Be in your name.
• Cover accidents and medical treatment.
• Include hospital stays in Ireland.

It is best to keep the full insurance policy document or insurance certificate ready when applying.

After getting Stamp 1G

Stamp 1G allows you to stay in Ireland and work full-time while looking for a job that can lead to an employment permit.

However, Stamp 1G does not allow self-employment or running a business.
